Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

My dear old thing, at least get the joke right. It is quite frustrating to see new posts with a lot of them being about nonsense. Just a personal opinion.
In other places I’m also Bolide Fantôme, which is the name of a comicbook character, . You can read an issue here:-

You know, I have the oddest feeling that I know you. Perhaps it’s just the name, “Mcdiarmid”, that reminds me of someone I used to know.
Boutje, here’s another Buck Ryan compilation:-

but I think Mulo might already have posted a version of this one.

All the 44 Artists and Writers are connected to the British comics so far.

However, they are various backgrounds and nationalities that had helped in producing the British Comics.

All though comics that are produced by D. C. Thomson, like the Beano, Beezer, Topper, Dandy, Plug, Sparky, Cracker and many others not mentioned by name,
even though they are classed as British Comics, they actually headquarters, is based in Scotland, so shall they really be called British Comics ?

    Ha Ha!

That’s right, DCT are based in Scotland, but, they also have a base in Fleet Street, London. You’ll see the John Leng name on many comics. The 2 companies merged in 1905. In any case Scotland is part of the U.K so British is correct also.

Why did Frankenstein the monster give up boxing?

Because he didn’t want to spoil his looks!

      • Frank says:

Yes! I know that John Leng had merged with DCT for a time, but not permanently.

Eventually it went back to being just D.C Thomson.

Well, I guess that is why there was a comic strip called The Jocks (Scottish) and The Geordies (British), always fighting each other.

You see it could not continue, eventually they fighted and broke away!

        Ta Ta !

Thank you, Frank. That’s how I recognise the name. You’re famous and just a tad talented. Glad you gave us the bio. Anyone who’s interested can have a shufty at lots of examples of your work by searching with your name. Which I have just done. If you’re in Scotland, there is a con next Saturday at Glasgow Concert hall. Any chance of you turning up?
And by the way, I’ve never been a pro in comics production. A shop owner, con and mart organiser and occasional article writer is the extent of my involvement.
Although I do help out on a few sites for the preservation and study of comics.

Okay Paw Broon, I might be a tad talented, but I would’nt consider myself famous compared to The Loch Ness Monster – now Nessie is really famous – she attracts tourism to Scotland all the time. Yes I will be in scotland, after all I have to visit my famous Cousin Nessie The Loch Ness Monster – I also will be at the con next Saturday at Glasgow Concert Hall. It be a privilege to meet a shop owner, con and mart organiser and occasional writer, that helps in the preservation and study of comics. I will very much like to meet you to give you the opportunity to became a famous Cartoonist and Writer, if your interested. Just like Bob Paynter, Editor of fleetway gave me the chance, although only met him three times in my life. I think his name Paynter is made up [sounds like Painter, which means he is artistic]. So I guess your not also the Paw Broon [from the comic strip The Broons] that I thought I met once before. [must be someone else that I knew, or my mind is playing tricks on me, that I only met Paw Broon through the comic strip itself.] Ha ha!

      Ooh hay the noo!

Paddywack goes into a bar and orders seven shots of tequila and one Guinness.

The barman lines up shots and goes to get the Guinness.

When he comes back with the pint, all seven shots are gone.

The barman says: “Wow! You sure drank those fast.”

Paddywack explains: “You would drink fast too if you had what I have.”

The barman asks: “What do you have?”

Paddywack reaches into his pocket and says: “Fifty cents!”
