Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.
A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.
British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.
You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.
There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.
You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.
Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.
I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.
I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.
This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.
If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

I am Dutch, and i live in the Netherlands. The reason that i have this British and other blogs is that i love comics from the US and even more those from the UK. Most titles ware never published here so i have to go with the digital ones. Other thing is that we don’t have that history with weekly and fortnightly comics as the Dandy, Beezer, Bullet, Bunty and all those others to much to mention. I think here we had about 5 of these publications, called Donald Duck, Kuifje, Sjors en Sjimmie, Pep, Robbedoes and some minor ones. We even had a version of the Eagle, called Arend, from 55-66, i still have some of these from 63,64.
In the 70’s the popularity of this publications became less and less.
I do collect real paper comics, all in Dutch, i have 12 boekcases full with comics and some other books.

That is nice to know. Is Holland the same as the Netherlands ? Someone told me that. I am a bit confused by it.
Your interest in preserving British History Comics is even more amazing, now nowing that you do not live in England.
Also it is more amazing and much respect to you, since no one in England has gone to so much trouble with the British comics as you.
This makes it more amazing that your British comics blog is the best ever, considering that you are not even in England.
This makes me think, that if I create a Blog for all the british comics like you,
people will go more crazy in England.
You now have inspired me to make a blog from where you left off at maxium 2000.
I think I will create a blog eventually, when I figure how to do so, from the British comics from 2000 onwards.
That will make 2 great blogs of british comics then. I have all the remaining comics of some of your titles from 2000 onwards, that you had not completed due to your Rule.
Woe is me, that I do not know how to create a blog. I think DOcument descriptions of comics I will not have a problem with.
I just do not understand the concept how you create links, that allows people to download comics. Could you explain how one makes downloadable links ?

Holland is only a part of the Netherlands (specifically, two regions: North and South Holland). Just like some people say England when they mean Britain, many say Holland when they mean the Netherlands. And just like you’d annoy a Scot or Welsh person by saying England when you are actually referring to Scotland or Wales or Britain as a whole, you’d annoy a Dutch person from the elsewhere in the Netherlands if you said they were from Holland.

What is Kuifje, Sjors en Sjimmie, Robbedoes about ?
You mention you had a version of the Eagle, called Arend. I guess that was
because some BRITISH COMICS were translated limited editions to other countries.
Buster also was translate to another language. Can not recall of hand. I let you
know more about that later.
Was Pep, the American Archie series translate into dutch, or just some other comic with the same name ?
I am a big comic fan collector and of other books too.
I have lost count in my books, but it is over 10,000 books in my Personal Library.
It has quite a collection that even the British Libraries in the uk do not even have. I have a lot of friends that like my Library, keep coming round, to read. i tell them, they can not take any from my home on loan like a Library service, as they are very precious, rare and cannot be replaced.
I am a great Sherlock Holmes Fan, have 50 books of different types. There have been over 100 different Authors that have written Sherlock Holmes books. Anyone
now is allowed to write Sherlock Holmes without getting permission from anyone now.
I have 2 original Sherlock Holmes books by sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the original author, with his signature in the book embolded on the cover. it is authentic and rare.
I got lucky, in Cyprus on a Holiday. Found them in a Charity shop, they sold these 2 books for only 50 cents each. Later checked the internet, found out they are worth over 20,000 pounds each. I will never sell them, knowing how valuable they are.
Andy has written 3 Sherlock Holmes books himself. One is about time travel. It really is amazing. He has covered things about time travel no one in a book or movie has ever mentioned before. He is going to release one of them this year. He was told by 7 different publishers it is going to be a best seller. 3 publishers also told him it definitely can be made into a movie.
Good things come to those who wait and patient, without rushing, but putting there best effort in all they do.

Here are some sort of lessons to get around with html codes and explanations
what all codes do, for basic use and for more difficult settings.
The ones like Kuifje, Sjors en Sjimmie and Robbedoes had mostly all stories from different characters, from Dutch, Belgian and French artists.
Most are continuing stories.
Pep had nothing to do with the Archie series, Pep stands for the english word pep, meaning speed, lust for life etc.
These had also stories from most Belgian artists and some Disney, later from French artists.
Great to see you have so many books and valuables and originals.
I think my most valuables are 3 years Donald Duck 1957-1959 complete.
In the state they are in they will probably sell for 150 euro a year, not that much at all.
But just like you i don’t think so much as valuable moneywise, more valuable for what they mean to me and what emotions they give me. And that can be something worth 1 penny or 100.000, just what it does to me counts, for me anyway.

Being Dutch, I don’t suppose you have the Dutch Robot Archie collections? Especially the ones that told new stories not included in the UK comics? Though my Dutch is poor, and they aren’t strictly UK comics, I’d love to see those on the site. The Dutch Billy’s Boots too, for that matter, and the French Janus Stark stories, both of which carried on past the point where the British strips finished.

I have some albums from Archie, some old and some newer, it’s hard to tell what the new stories are that are not included in the UK comics.
I have some Albums from Billy Boots also, it’s called the Wondersloffen van Sjakie in Dutch.
Janus Stark i don’t have, i am not sure they were published here.
But i have to scan these all, and i’m rather busy right now with other things. But i will keep it in mind for after summer and the dark days are closing in, i will have more time on my hands. Just remind me around the end of september and i wil make some time scanning these and upload them and leave the links in a comment. It’s possible that i find them allready scanned somewhere on the internet, in that case i will upload and make links for them when i find them, so keep an eye out on this page.

All ten of the Archie: De Man van Staal volumes published by Oberon BV are effectively new(ish) material. Eight of them were based on UK Archie tales, but rewritten and redrawn by Bert Bus. Volumes 5 and 10 contained completely new tales by Bert Bus. Per the Comicvine entry on the series:
“Robot Archie, originally published in the British Lion weekly, had been reprinted in Dutch since 1963 in the weekly Sjors comic, Sjors’ 1960s publisher, N.V. Spaarnestad, had collected some of the series as albums, De Man van Staal, as did subsequent Sjors publisher, Amsterdam Boek, in 1973. Meanwhile, Archie had been dropped from Lion in 1971, but Sjors, once they ran out of material to reprint, had turned to Dutch writer and artist Bert Bus, who had produced new Archie adventures, initially based on some of the Lion stories, and then, towards the end of Bert Bus’ time on the series, two completely original stories drawn by Bus and written by Fenna Ridderbos: the 1973-74 Archie in de ijstijd, and 1974 Archie contra mister Magneto.
From 1980 Sjors’ then-current publisher, Oberon, collected the Bert Bus stories in a series of new albums, Archie: De Man van Staal. They published nine collections over the next two years, stopping in 1982. Twenty-two years later, Amor Vincent Omnia published a final, tenth volume in the series, in honour of Bus being awarded the prestidigious Bulletje en Boonestaakschaal award for his services to Dutch comics.”
No rush in adding any of them though. I know you are taking a summer break, and there’s plenty here to keep me occupied in the meantime. I just hoped there might be a chance down the line.

I am going to plan one other update for this blog only this month or beginning next month, and then call it a day for awhile, because i have found and got that many new issues again.
Otherwise they all have to stay untouched until september, and that’s not what we want now isn’t it.

Some comments on things mentioned earlier: England is only England. The United Kingdom of Gt. Britain and N. Ireland is the country.

Have a look in Yahoo groups, you might find a group there with a lot of British material.
As far as I’m aware, Janus stark wasn’t published in The Netherlands but I think there were Spanish reprints as well as French reprints.
While The Netherlands didn’t have the same comics history as Britain, America, Spain, France, Italy, etc., they did have some absolutely classic newspaper strips and characters who were reprinted or appeared in comic book form, usually landscape. Look for Eric De Noorman; Kapitein Rob; Tom Poes; Kick Wilstra; Rikki Visser; Piloot Storm;
And after the war due to paper shortages, there were the tiny Beeldromans, about the size of a cigarette packet, out of which came the incredibly popular Dick Bos. There were even a few costumed heroes/masked mystery men in that format, e.g. De Kat (a costumed heroine); De Moker; De Tweede Pimpernel. And detective adventure heroes like Spot Morton (well drawn by Maz’s brother, Georges Mazure); Lex Brand, and SF style Tom Wels. A lot more.

Recently one of my hard drives just died on me and I lost all of my UK comics. Still getting over the shock and have had a difficult time trying to get back everything which I previously had. I am currently trying to replace all of the lost issues of SMASH that I once had but have not been able to find the following issues.

All the Crazy Magazines are now completed, as I understand, you received them all now, plus all the beezer annuals that I upload you. This all I can manage for now, as I am now on vacation in uk, being buzy with many preparations for Andy, to release his book, about the mystery of time travel. I am working with frank in helping by making preparations in behalf of Andy. Another thing, is not only the publishers getting ready, but so are the directors for the movie. In addition preparations are being made to hire a Hall at Baker Street, to make a book convention, for the release and signing of the book by Andy, we all going out to market it in a very big way to attract attention, to get people to come. Location of Baker Street is the best place to drive the Sherloholics or Sherlock Holmes fans go crazy.

Spellbinders is a twelve-issue series that reprinted stories with a magic/horror twist from 2000AD (Slaine and Nemesis the Warlock) alongside an earlier strip from another UK comic (Smash!) entitled ‘Amadeus Wolf’ (a retitled reprint of the Cursitor Doom strips) plus a handful of Library of Death stories from UK horror comic Scream!
Confusingly, for the UK market, Quality carried on the Spellbinders numbering after issue 12, but the comics just reprinted their other ongoing title ‘Scavengers’. The ‘Spellbinders’ title was dropped after issue 13.

My first memories are from the mid 60’s Thunderbirds. I believe that is because XL5 wasn’t on television here, like the Thunderbirds.
