Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

  1. Hi when I try to download any comics from the download links, a new page opens “media fire” but nothing seems to load after that. I thought it was maybe because I was on a tablet. But tried it on the PC and it didn’t work there either.

Can you specify which ones ? I tried a few randomly and had no problem. Sometimes it’s caused by the downloadsite and when you try next day or so it is working again. Mostly the links are direct downloads so you will see it at the bottom of the page you’re on and you only have to acknowledge the download.

I tried the Whizzer and Topper downloads and had no problems at all. Perhaps you have to adjust some settings on your browser or antivirus ? Because they are direct downloads. The update ones from Whizzer are at Mega and that site can be slow with some browsers. If someone else experience problems with Mediafire please let me know.

Really enjoying your fabulous site, loaded with nostalgia. But the first two batches of Fawcettt’s UK Capt. Marvel Jr. don’t seem to be available for download, the links only open onto a blank tab? Any suggestions?

Hello. I can’t seem to find a reason why this is happening, i tried them and had no problems, i use Internet Explorer 11. Perhaps it has to do with some setting in the browser or antivirus ? These are direct downloads and the download appears at the page of the download you just have to acknowledge.

If you do add one in the future, I recommend Australian Comics possibly including the Frew Phantoms, though I completely understand if you don’t make any more. All of this is a great resource.

WOW! I’m so glad to find this page! First—thank you! Comics are my first love also. I grew up in the 60s and love Silver Age comics. I was lucky enough to get like 10k issues from your previous endeavor, but it still went away too soon. What history. I can’t wait to really explore this one! —Skip

That is good to read. You are welcome. Happy exploring.
A big update will be coming because i am preparing nearly 7000 comics for this blog, many gaps will be filled and also some new titles. That will take some work and time uploading and sorting out but i have good hope i will be ready in a month or 2.

    ***GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT***

When you ran into problems with downloading from Adrive, try again in a few hours or the next day. Yesterday i received a comment about the Comet that could not be downloaded anymore, i ran into the same problem and thought that was for all downloads on Adrive and wanted to replace all these. But today i could download without any problem all the Beezers from Adrive, so i suspect it’s not for all downloads impossible to download them.
Best thought from me is, let me know when a download can not be downloaded after some tries and i will replace those downloads for new ones. That seems better for me because it will cost me weeks to replace all Adrive downloads and i rather use that time to work on updates.

After my earlier complaint that some Captain Marvel Jr.’s would not download and opened onto a blank tab, I found that if I persisted on clicking the download link at short intervals, it would eventually deliver the goods. Perhaps this has something to do with the difference in broadband speeds, as my area has not yet been upgraded to fibre-optic and is still running on copper, consequently quite slow. I think as you say, the answer is to try, and try again.

Just let me know if download(s), still not working after many tries, i’ll be glad to make new downloads in that case. And i don’t see it as a complaint, i am glad that people make comments about errors, that way i can try to fix these errors.

For mr. Nick: I am very sorry but with iPad is very difficult read comics. This is for purpose. The best are kindle fire devices because computer see they like an external memory. In and out and go on. After this discovery I sell all my paper comics. Ciao

I don’t know about iPads but I always find comics downloads much easier when downloading to my Lenovo tablet. The only catch there is to avoid using Google browser, which tells you you are downloading, but in fact does nothing. I find Firefox for Android much more reliable, then the only problem is ComicRack can be fussy about what it’s prepared to open. All a matter of trial and error.

Your comment makes no sense. Why would the iPad be “very difficult to read comics”?!
BTW I recommend an app called Chunky, it’s my favorite cbr/zip etc comic reader on iOS.

iPads aren’t the best for reading comics. There is no ability to add a micro sd card and many comics apps for it are not free, I think. An android tablet (mine is a Samsung) can use the best comics viewer, perfectviewer free from Google store, which also has a pdf extension for comics in that format. Simple and easy to use. Having a small selection of micro sd cards available lets you load up piles of comics onto your tablet and off you go.
This is a great site. Thank you, Boutje.

I read them on the iPad. Just download a comic reader such as ‘Comic Viewer’ and plug the iPad into your PC and add the cbr files to the comic viewer app through iTunes. They look fantastic on the iPro. Thanks so much to the founder of this site, it’s a fantastic source.

Why would you use a micro SD card?! No one uses micro SD card. So you plug your card into your computer, transfer your comics on it, then plug it into your Korean knock-off? Just plug your iPad in and transfer them once and that’s it.
And “many comic apps are not free”?! Well, what about the many that ARE free? Makes no sense whatsoever.
Samsung tablets are as awful as their exploding phones, buy the real thing.

No-one uses micro SD cards? Call me no-one then. No, you don’t mess about with a computer, just download comics onto your tablet, then when you’ve read them, store them on your micro SD. No need to put other peoples’ preferences down.

This collection is awesome. I have two questions. Do you have “More Fun Comics” with the early Superboy stories? Also – any chance of any silver age comics showing back up? I’d love to patch up some holes in my collection! Thanks again for all you do!!

I am afraid i don’t have More Fun Comics, but i will look through my lists because i slightly remember something about having these. Silver Age Heroes will not be coming up soon, perhaps in the far future.

      PS.

I don’t seem to have any but if you can download from a newsserver here is a link with some More Fun, scroll to the bottom.

      More Fun

And here are alot of Superboy in More Fun, Adventure etc. Scroll down and see also the next pages for even more.
