Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.
A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.
British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.
You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.
There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.
You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.
Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.
I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.
I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.
This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.
If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.
Thanks to the following sites for the information :

Unfortunately Andy passed away due to health problems with his heart, so he will not continue to supply comics or date and numbering Guides, but, he left me his complete collectionof over 9 million comics annuals and specials and date and numbering guides that he prepared. I will work hard with Ian Knox to fulfill his wishes to continue to make everyone happy. Also he wrote a book to publish this year about time travel, it really is amazing, it will be a best seller and be made into a movie in two years from now. He authorized someone in his family to publish the book in his memory.

That is sad and terrible to read. I offer my sincere condelences to his relatives and friends, may he rest in peace. I will remember him as a good comicsfriend, although we never met personally.

Dear Boutje.
I am at a loss of words and unable to thank you enough for the amazing work you are doing to digitally preserve British comics!!!
I personally have similar interests. Recently, I began rescanning the original Eagle, HQ scans from the first merger issue with Boys World, these are HQ scans done at 600 dpi. A friend of mine is editing them. Here is a link for all the merger issues from 1964.
If you like them, feel free to post the links, and I have much more scans if you want them. Please let me know. All the best in the future!

Sorry, I didn’t even look. Must be MickRC must have posted them already. He edits my scans. Anyhow, I have all the issues from 1957 to 1969, without any missing, and hopefully all will be scanned and edited in the foreseeable future at 600 dpi. There will be other scans also… But lets not promise too much right now 🙂
Thanks Andy

Actually I just checked, and no, these scans that I posted are different from the ones from your 29-10-17 update. Not sure what happened but someone took our HQ scans and reduced the pixel size and resolution in half, reducing the file size from 309 MB to 109 MB, for issue 1541 for example. Not sure why someone would reduce intentionally the scan quality, but probably to reduce file size and DL time… Anyhow, thank you for the wonderful site!.
i am and will continue to publish HQ rescans of Golden Age British comics on the Stripzona International site. They will be posted by my friend and editor MickRC. We will keep you updated as well if you like.
All best from Andy

I am afraid that was me, sorry. I got them from someone and thought these files are huge, i have to make them smaller somehow but still of good quality to read. I try to give everybody a chance to download the comics and i was afraid not everyone has the capacity or speed to download them properly. At least now everyone who wants to download these bigger and better quality files can with the link you provided. I promise not to reduce the size anymore if you have new scans, they will come on the side as they are.

You are welcome.

I doubt that 600 dpi woud be a popular size. More concerning are the files reduced from say 10 to 5 mb or 4 to 2mb?!

I had a problem with this too – I just get blank pages when I open. I have had this problem with a few other files recently, and have solved it by expanding the file using the software to expand the 7z archives and then re-compressing into the usual format.
And thanks for all the recent comics – it seems like every day is update day lately.

Could be a confliction issue between different .CBR readers/and or .RAR extractors/compilers ?
Would you mind telling me which .RAR creator/compiler you use and which .CBR/.CBZ reader you use so I can test them?

I am on a Mac, so my info will not be of much use to you. I use Simple Comic, which is now quite old, so will update to something else when I find a suitable alternative. And the system archive facility to compress files.

Hello boutje777, excellent job as with all your other projects. I recognize a genuine fellow comics fan-collector just like myself (I’ve been reading this stuff since the early 60s and still can’t get enough!).
I have a question for you: in the 70s I used to read in one of the British Comics, a series about a boy and his bed (!) which transformed into a submarine and traveled through a secret tunnel from his house. Fantastic stories, I haven’t the slightest clue about the name of the series, the name of the comic or the exact publication dates. If you or any other friend could help, I would appreciate it very much.
Keep on reading and collecting!
Peter

the only two similar stories with a Time Travelling Bed I can think of, is [1] Bedknobs and Broomsticks based on a movie of a time travelling bed, but more then one passenger. The other is from a comic either the Beano or the Dandy, called Fred’s Bed, with one passenger that time travels, named Fred. Hope this information helps.
