Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

The Valiant Annual 1974 is missing page 3 (second half of the contents) and page 4 (1st page of the Captain Hurricane story). Does anyone have a complete Valiant Annual 74.

Also, over the last few days I have reported a number of other incomplete issues in various comics (focusing on Valiant, Victor, Lion, Warlord, Bullet, Smash). Some have been found and replaced, while others remain incomplete. I thought that I would now put all of the remaining incomplete issues that I have found (so far) into one place.

    VICTOR:
Victor 0376 (1968-05-04) – page 32 is missing (Back page – war story continued from front page).

Victor 0418 (1969-02-22) – pages 21 & 22 are missing (3rd page of Rough, Tough Miles of Alf Tupper story and possibly an ads/info page).

Victor 0648 (1973-07-21) – page 29 is missing (1st page of Rogan of the Rocket Troop story).

Victor 1115 (1982-07-03) – page 22 is missing (1st page of Kid Clout Tennis Ace story).

    VALIANT:
Valiant 012 (1962-12-22) – page 31 is missing (2nd page of Jack O’Justice story) and page 32 (back cover)

Valiant 071 (1964-02-08) – torn corner on page 27 (2nd page of Jack O’Justice story)

Valiant 332 (1969-02-08) – page 16 is missing (3rd page of Raven on the Wing story).

I have also included Valiant 021 (1963-02-23) but I am not sure about this one. Pages 17 & 18 are missing but I am not sure if this is a 2-page or a 3-page Steel Claw story as page 2 does not have the “Don’t Miss Next Week” at the bottom of the page, or perhaps they are both ads/info pages).

    BULLET:
Bullet 56 (1977-03-05) – page 20 is missing (3rd page of an 8 page Fireball Story).

    WARLORD:
    Warlord 133 (1977-04-09) – page 24 (7th page of an 8-page Code-Name Warlord story)
Warlord 134 (1977-04-16) – page 35 (3rd page of Parker’s Private Army story) and page 36 (back cover).

    SMASH!:
Smash! 192 (1969-10-04) – page 12 is missing (1st page of Master of the Marsh story).

Again, thanks in advance if anyone can help with the incomplete Valiant Annual 74 or any of the other incomplete issues.

You are welcome, thanks for uploading the FF, great work.

      P.S.

I just saw the FF Annuals, i am afraid you did all the work for nothing, sorry.
I thought they were British but they are the US Annuals and i can’t use these for any of my blogs.
The Superheroblog is just for the Golden Age publications from heroes.

Sorry, I did not know that you did not use US Comics on your blog. I know before that you do not need Archie series of comics, but I did notice in your Television blog of Comics that you have Sabrina the teenage witch, which is american comic from the archie series. It is confusing sometimes to know what you want. Sorry once more. I remember nothing after 2000, now nothing american. I try to remember. Never mind, I will find something else for you, british and before 2000. Your doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

No problem. I know it can be confusing, my mind works in mysterious ways sometimes. With Sabrina i made the connection to the tv series, so i thought these can be well on the television and movie comics blog. When i can find a connection somewehere i always try to place a comic in one of my blogs. So it can be American also for most of my blogs as long as it is related to the blog. Watch when i open my pulp and old magazines blog, it will be even more confusing (just joking).

Okay. No problem. So when are you opening your new pulp and old magazine blog,
to confuse us more? Ha ha! You are doing a great job with your britishcomicswordpress. Have you considered to make another two blogs, one called americancomicwordpress. Ha Ha! Since you do not put anything on this blog after 2000, have you considered to open another blog for comics from 2000 onwards but not before that. Ha Ha! Some ideas to think about. Ha Ha!

Here is the full 7 issue run of Space 1999 Comic produced by Charlton in 1976

It is ( apart from the first 2 issues ) priced in both UK & USA currency ( as it was sold in both countries simultaneously ).

You can decide if it fits your blog Boutje777 🙂

Firstly, thanks boutje777. The latest update was great. A few more gems in there and a few more issues of Smash, Lion and Tiger to add to the collection.

Now, back to my obsession with incomplete issues/missing pages. Apologies if I appear to be going on about these.

Re: Missing pages previously reported in Valiant 021 (1963-02-23).
This was the first issue following Valiants merger with Knockout, so there had been a few changes. Steel Claw was normally a 2-page story but in this issue I wondered if it might have been a 3-page story because I noticed there were 2 missing pages in this issue of Valiant. Also, the second page of this issue’s Steel Claw did not have the “Don’t Miss Next Week” at the bottom of the page – another reason to make me think there was a third page to this issue’s Steel Claw. However, after comparing the end of the Steel Claw in Valiant 21 with the beginning of the Steel Claw in Valiant 22, it does appear to be continuous and, therefore, I don’t think there is anything to worry about for anyone trying to collect all of the Steel Claw into one file. I initially thought the missing pages were p17 & p18 but after comparing this issue with a few others, I now believe the missing pages were actually p15 & p18. These two missing pages were most likely the one page humourous strip ‘Percy The Problem Child’ and the weekly jokes/letters page.

I recently discovered the Marvel UK reprint comic ‘The Super-Heroes’. The interest here is due to being a lifelong X-Men fan. This comic had 50 issues with a standard size of 36 pages. All 50 issues have been uploaded. However, issue 036 [1975-11-08] appears to be incomplete – it only has 21 pages. Does anyone have the complete 36 page issue.

I also have a question. My next reorganizing is Action which is also complete.
What can i do best with titles that has no numbering on the page (like Super-Heroes has), use the dates to organize them or just leave them by numbering like they are now.

It seems Action Force is only missing issue 50 to make this title complete, including the 15 Action Force Monthly, 1 Micro – and 5 Mini Comics and 1 Annual and 2 Specials. If someone can help making this complete i would feel much obliged.

I’m probably not alone here in saying I would love to see Lion completed once and for all. Therefore, I have made a list of the issues still missing. Lion ran from 23-02-1952 to 18-05-1974 and had a total of 1136 issues (if current numbering is correct). The missing issues of Lion are listed by year.

    1952 (9 Issues)
    002, 004, 017, 018, 025, 026, 028, 031, 042,

    1953 (5 Issues)
    049, 092, 094, 095, 097,

    1954 (25 Issues)
    098, 099, 109, 114, 116, 119, 120, 122, 123, 124, 125, 126, 128, 130, 131, 133, 135, 136, 138, 139, 140, 141, 144, 145, 147,

    1957 (40 Issues)
    255, 256, 257, 258, 259, 260, 261, 262, 263, 267, 268, 269, 270, 271, 272, 273, 274, 275, 277, 278, 280, 281, 284, 285, 286, 287, 288, 289, 290, 293, 294, 295, 296, 297, 298, 299, 300, 302, 303, 305,

    1958 (30 Issues)
    316, 317, 318, 319, 320, 321, 322, 323, 324, 325, 326, 328, 329, 330, 331, 333, 334, 336, 337, 341, 342, 343, 344, 345, 346, 347, 349, 353, 354, 357,

    1959 (28 Issues)
    360, 361, 362, 364, 366, 368, 375, 376, 377, 378, 380, 382, 384, 385, 386, 387, 388, 389, 390, 391, 392, 393, 394, 398, 399, 400, 401, 402,

    1960 (31 Issues)
    404, 405, 407, 410, 412, 413, 415, 419, 421, 422, 424, 426, 427, 431, 432, 433, 436, 439, 442, 443, 444, 445, 446, 447, 448, 450, 452, 453, 454, 455, 456,

Total number of missing issues still needed to complete the full run = 168

Please note that only the first 378 issues of Lion were actually numbered by Amalgamated Press. The numbers after this are based on the current numbering that others have already done.

There was a printer’s strike in the summer of 1959 and based on other on-line sources (GCD, Comic Vine) there were only two issues published between 20 June 1959 and 29 August 1959. However, it seems these 2 issues were never dated or numbered. I believe that based on current numbering this would place the undated issues at #384 and #385.

I think this would be a good one to complete (if possible) and hope the above helps.
Finally, if anyone comes across issue 303, make sure it is not issue 308. This mistake has already been made. Issue 303 should have the date 07-12-1957.

    206, 209, 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, 215, 216, 217, 219, 220, 221, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, 228, 229, 230, 239, 241, 242, 245.

Big job, but I think this would be another good one to complete.
