Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.
A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.
British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.
You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.
There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.
You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.
Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.
I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.
I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.
This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.
If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.
Thanks to the following sites for the information :

Housekeeping notice.
This week i will start sorting and preparing the update for september, it will cost a few weeks because i have to process almost 900 issues. I think it will be late in september before i finished this all. I will divide those into 3 or 4 update pages sorted at subject to avoid a very long update page. You can continue as usual with sharing in comments, i will save these for the update in oktober.

Seems very reasonable and logical to me. Which of course means some damned fool is going to complain about something. Good luck with everything and here’s hoping all goes well.

Thank you, so far so good. I had some fun during the last months, especially with Robin my birdfriend. I will post some pictures one of these days from events we visited and walks in the neighborhood.

Sadly we live in an “entitled” world where people don’t recognise when someone is very generously making things available for free at their own cost of time and resources.
I am very grateful to boutje777 and all the contributers for the treasures I find on this site.
I don’t understand why some people complain when they should marvel at all the great things presented on a regular basis !

Narrow escape.
I always number the covers with Bulk Rename Utility. I was working on Storypapers and named the covers. ukupstp001-ukupstp126. Some time later i checked the map with the Storypapers and saw that i renamed this map also ukupstp001-ukupstp126. Oh no, what’s this. I have to rename all single Storypaper and how do i know what issuenumer and dates they were, i have to check all covers for that. But here is the escape, normally i first number the covers and then make packs with rar. For some reason this time i made packs first and there after numbered the covers. So no problem, just deleted the map with the Storypapers and unpacked the rars, and there they were again with all proper names. Next time i make a copy of the map were i am working on, just to be sure.

That should be 4 of 4 for the Penny Annuals.
My mediafire is creaking a bit so the week’s links will probably vanish soon to make room for more stuff (nothing exciting, mainly storypapers and the like) after some webfinding, so in the words of Darius Jedburgh, get it while it’s hot.

I got it, thank you very much.
PS
I’m going to make a titlepage for Penny also, i have 19 issues allready.

Penny is a weirdly obscure title for the period, not much about it online, and it doesn’t seem to be included in Susan Brewer’s excellent overview of British girls comics. Comparing it to things like Tammy and Girl it seems to be aimed at the same slightly younger audience, as Pixie was.
The first issue was 24 April 1979, the last 5 April 1980. It ran for 49 issues before merging with Jinty. It clearly didn’t to too badly, getting past 22 (unlike Starlord and Tornado from around the same time). It seems to have adopted the format of shorter serials over a lot of recurring characters, and to have picked up the literary adaptations previously from the “posh papers”, which again suggests it was pitched to parents who bought comics for their kids rather than older kids who had their own pocket money.

Thanks, i can use that on the titlepage.

You can create as many Mediafire accounts as you like as they don’t require validating by email. e.g. you could create an account boombox1@testarossa.com then boombox2@testarossa.com and so on. Each account gives 10GB free. Just don’t forget your password or you’ll never get back in!
Finally, I would just like to say thank you for all your scans, truly magnificent! As a scanner myself, I know how much time and effort goes into these. 🙂
Also to Boutje for a fantastic site. Just as much time and effort has gone into creating it and keeping it up to date. 🙂

Thanks for the kind words! Remembering passwords is sadly one of my many failings, I prefer to have just the one account where I know where stuff is where possible… That Boutje keeps track of what must be tens of thousands of issues is beyond my understanding.

Thank you, it takes some pretty heavy archiving en saving lists and maps, but i think i can find a needed issue within a few minutes. It helps also to have some sort of photographic memory.
With my passwords, i have a textfile with all sites and their passwords in a secure map and printed twice and keep them at 2 different places. About every month i chanche the important passwords and print them out again. From sites i visit frequently i memorize the passwords.
