Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

Story paper aimed at young women, IIRC roughly the sane audience as fifties romance comics Contains melodrama.

Bundle of issues of story paper The Miracle. Condition of the originals was variable, this is reflected in the scans.

I had this problem until I realised that you simply need to create your own account and logon. This then gives you your own allowance for downloads, rather than a common one. You should then be able to download everything with no issues.

Someone said once i’m not gonna make an account on Google, they will know everything about you that way and can follow you around. Like that’s not allready done by so many different sources, including the government. Rather hypocritical also, you want to download everything free from them but they can’t have any information about you.

Of course you can always set up a different gmail account to filter some of your mail, so that account has a different profile.

You could get Hayley Atwell to hand-deliver scams to people on free iPhones and there would still be grumbles from a few G. H. Cantles.

I’m trying to coin G. H. Cantle as an expletive in the field of British comics in honour of the Victorian-era Cuts/Chips/Wonder editor, who seems to have been a piece of work even for the time.

So far it’s not really catching. But it’s early days.

So, having become increasingly frustrated by the limitations of vFlat (fair’s fair, it’s intended for documents, not ratty old comics), I have finally got a flatbed. It’s only A4 for space reasons but is good enough that for anything with pages with some sort of split that doing half a page and stitching the images manually is viable. I’ve yet to try it on something like Princess Tina with full-page images and/or decent paper stock. I believe there is an A3 scanner in the local library but I’m not sure when I will get chance to scope that out.So, the good news is my scans should be markedly less warped going forward. The bad news is the flatbed is too noisy for me to get away with doing them at work, so the pace is likely to drop. I am going to play around with using vFlat to capture B&W text stories, which it seems fairly good at.I do plan to go through older scans and upgrade them, but that’s probably behind doing anything I haven’t scanned at all, so don’t delete anything yet. I am also still primarily destructively scanning apart from in the very rare cases books are worth more than it costs to post them, so a few titles may still be done on vFlat so I can resell them and buy more comics. Finally a word on leeches and my petty, petty response to them. I scan comics for two reasons – to help fill gaps on what I consider a hugely worthy project to perpetuate both the preservation and enjoyment of a niche area I love, and for selfish reasons related to The Project. I don’t mind spending money on comics, time scanning them or bandwidth uploading them for others to enjoy. But when just my files get 200+ downloads and not one bothers to anonymously say thanks or hit the like button in return for free comics… well, let’s just say I’m not sure how Boutje puts up with most of you. So basically until you all learn some simple netiquette, I’ll be cutting links once I know Boutje has them, and anyone who misses them can wait for then to be included in an update. https://www.mediafire.com/file/ekeqgos05qe1goo/Tip+Top+Book+1939.cbz/file

Thank you very much times 4. You can rest asure that when i thank you the file is downloaded at the same time. About getting frustrated, i learned not to in the decades i use internet, started in the early 90’s with a phoneconnection and was busy for 2 hours downloading 1 game from 300 kb or something like that.

Oh I’m dial-up generation too, which to me makes it more irritating that people can’t be bothered to take 2 seconds to say thanks for free stuff… =)

Thankyou for the Birthday book for Girls. The one for boys was already here so I have been hoping this one would appear so we would have a set. Now if only the Giant Holiday Girls Comic Album would show up that would be nice.

It’s on my look-for list… I did find the Girls one a slight disappointment compared to the boys volume, weird that IPC seem to have picked that exact point to gender the humour titles.

Okay, I think I’ve bought a copy (gambled on no cover picture versus very low price) , so we’ll see what happens… gave away my other Hawk Books giants a while ago so can’t offhand tell if it will fit on my scanner or go on the A3 pile, sorry. Thanks, though, I knew they had done a girls one but had the wrong title down! =)

I also wish to thank to thank Boutje and all the scanners for making this site the best on the web for British Comics. Your efforts are much appreciated and whilst I collect paper copies of the Fleetway libraries it is wonderful to fill the gaps with scanned versions. I am very impressed with Mr Tweedy’s ability to scan such comics that makes them look almost as new.

    Best,

    Keith
