Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

I am looking for a comic I remember from my youth (middle to late
1970’s) that depicted a WWII British army patrol that through some
accident was forced to travel back in time to the middle ages. I recall
a scene where a landing craft with a bren gun was blasting away at a
group of viking warriors on the jetty. Not sure if it was Commando publishing house or Battle Picture Weekly or another. Do you have any idea of the details? Thank you from Canada! regards Malcolm

This sounds ‘The Phantom Patrol’, which ran in Swift from 1962-1963.

There aren’t many issues of that on here but the first six months or so of the strip were reprinted (as ‘The Ghost Patrol’) in early issues of Smash! in 1966. Further episodes were reprinted in 2000AD and Starlord Annuals in the late 1970s/early 1980s.

There was a collected edition of the complete strip published by Bear Alley Books in 2009 but it had a small print run and is virtually impossible to find now.

Hey everyone. Does anyone know how to merge then convert jpeg files to either CBR or CBZ? I don’t know if it’s something I did wrong. But I downloaded the 1975 Lion annual and it’s arrived as 165 jpeg files instead of the single file they usually come in. This is in android.

The easiest way I know how to turn jpg’s into CBR is to put all the jpg’s into a folder and then zip it. Then change the tag from “zip” to “cbr” and you have yourself a geunine cbr file.

Hi. It’s simple to create CBZ files. Just select the images you want and convert them to a Zip file. Then change the file name extension from .zip to .cbz

    Hi
Just combine the jpeg files using win rar app. And then rename the file format as.cbr.

The last update was the first for a while not to include any Alan Class comics (Secrets Of The Unknown etc). This is an outrage ! I’ve contacted Interpol and left a formal complaint…

Perhaps a little respect and a small thank you for the scanners and original uploaders ? They are working constantly scanning and uploading. And not every update will have the content you want, but others will.

Bizarre take, and just the sort of ingratitude that could lead to fewer people bothering to scan – which can be a relatively thankless task at the best of times.

Speaking personally it’s as much a case that there’s a lot more girls/pre WW-II comics that aren’t on the site… Most post-war boys’ comics are 90%+ complete, it’s logical that people are less likely to turn up new issues.

Of course, you always have the option of buying such comics yourself, scanning them, processing them, uploading them and sharing them so some random can complain they’re not getting precisely the free comics they want.

Well said. We had someone on here once complaining about the number of “nursery comics” turning up in the updates. Some people just have to complain about something.

The schoolgirl stories are great and have wonderful memories for many of the visitors to this site. Some of the stories are set in wartime, usually in France, and offer another aspect of WW2. All scanners do a brilliant job and I am very thankful for the work they do. I look forward to every update. Regards Ian

Exactly! Honestly I’d say Mademoiselle X for instance is up there with the best, and it’s a shame some people overlook that because it wasn’t in a comic called War Gun Bullet Library.
