Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

    Good Afternoon Boutje.
I am very pleased you are going to carry on updating the ‘British Comics’ section.
You have done an Amazing Job getting it all together, along with all the Donaters!
But may I ask, if anyone can Please complete the missing ‘Lion’ & ‘Tiger’ comics.
This will make an ‘Old Un’ very happy.
    Kind Regards
    Bosco

Apologies if you have already received this comment as I have sent 3 times already but it has not appearied on the main page.

There are still some incomplete/damaged issues of Buster from 1985 which need to be upgraded.

      1985-04-06 (pages 2 + 3 have been duplicated).
1985-06-15 (appears to have 4 missing pages).

Also, issues dated 1985-04-13, 1985-05-11, 1985-07-06, 1985-07-13 and 1985-07-20 all have some damage due to coupons being cut out.
Can you help with any of these.

Who remembers or knows of a comic from the 60s called Pinky and Perky which I can find very little information on? I got it as a kid because it was the only comic which had The Magic Boomerang (one of my favourite TV programs from the 60s) on the back cover. It also had Johnny Quest inside. Does anyone else know anything about this one?

I have a feeling that you are referring to TV Toyland.

Never mind I found it, but it didn’t include Jonny Quest. I finally found the weekly strip in Huckleberry Hound; there was no information in wiki for this Jonny strip so I had to find it elsewhere. Unfortunately there appear to be only a few issues available.

Jonny Quest does NOT appear in TV Toyland 29. I don’t know where that information came from.

You are right Russell. Johnny Quest never appeared in TV Toyland but he did appear in Huckleberry Hound around the time of TV Toyland and Boutje has issues with Jonny Quest in under British titles A-M.

Just read about your decision to ease off on blogs etc.. That is perfectly understandable and I cannot think of anyone who has used this site who is not totally thankful for all your efforts to date.

I reach 69 this year, having retired a few years earlier, and despite being in good health most of my life received some slightly worrying news recently of which I do not want to dwell on but shows to all of us we need to be careful not to take life for granted and appreciate today.

I aim to upload another batch of Wham! comics from 1965 very soon but in the meantime a massive thanks to Boutje for this site, his time and efforts and wishing him well for the future.

Rob, you are not alone. I’m sure all of us wish you all the best. I’m slightly younger, but in a similar position, having to have a lot of tests in the last few months. I would strongly urge anyone our age to go to the doctor to get a check up if you’re concerned about anything at all.

Here is the 1973 Lion and Thunder Holiday Special, both my original scans and my crude attempt to turn it into a CBZ:

    https://wetransfer.com/downloads/01f1d4f5026d5cb31f2a78202b5cfe7420230406182931/e83e6a1d969e653bd49ac6ce14be1c9920230406182956/a01c5e

The file is very big because I scanned the individual pages at 600 dpi. The link should be live for another week.

I was only able to tidy up the CBZ a little, so thought I should include the individual scans so someone better equipped can have a crack at it.
