Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

This will be the last update before my summerbreak.
It was a tradition that i take a break in the summermonths to
have a chance to spend more time outside, cycling, taking pictures,
walking, visit events, fishing, focussing on other things.
The last 2 years that was not advisible, but now there are no longer
Covid restrictions i will pick this up again.
I will be looking at the blogs and make new links that are reported dead.
And i will be answering questions in comments also if i can.
I will also do some minor reorganizing on some pages and offcourse i will
save new additions in the comments and will be looking on the internet for issues.
That goes for all of my blogs.
The next update will be somewhere in august.
I only still have 1 update planned for Comics For All this week.

The Finding Out Book of Great Adventures.
Not the greatest of scans, but as all of the articles are from ‘Finding Out’ magazine, you’ll find better versions in the archive. Certainly, all of the Ron Embleton pieces are in ‘The Treasure Seekers’ compilation.

Embleton’s cover for #10 is just wonderful. The extraordinary detail, the faces (dozens) in the crowds, all so full of character, the lightness of touch… Also of note: MCBride’s Dmitri of the Don and the Grahame-Johnstone twins’ The Story of the Basilisk

    Hi there.
Im looking for some advice from any of the scanners on here. Im trying to scan some old NFL Magazines (I know the content isnt of any interest to anyone on here but bear with me), and I want to know how to improve the quality of the scan. When scanning colour pictures, they tend to come out in a way that i can only describe as a “dot matrix printer” look. Black and White pictures also come out darker than desired, which isnt a huge problem as I can turn up the brightness on my ipad, but would just like to cut out that middle man. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

IMHO ideal scanning resolution for mags is 300 dpi, in fact some people do 150 dpi. Any higher and you may see the dots. Google ‘Moire effect’. If changing the scanned resolution doesn’t help, then; 1. Find a setting in your scanner software to eliminate it. 2. Get better scanner software. 3. Scan at 600 dpi, then use photoshop to half it to 300 dpi to hide the moire. Maybe use a photoshop filter like deblur as well.

    • Scanning a comic or a magazine is a process where we amateurs touch upon the fringes of a subject that’s deeper than at first appears, and which is of deep interest to professionals in the comics industry.

It’s not a subject that can be explained in a few paragraphs. Formerly, there was an entire Yahoo group dedicated to this topic.

I can give you a link to the Archive page, which was salvaged when the Yahoo groups closed, that contains much useful advice.

The group was run by Harry Mendryk, a professional who worked on freelance restorations for Marvel and DC in America. Because he was a significant figure in the field, his Yahoo group also attracted contributions from others in the industry.

You can read through the extensive advice which was posted on the group, by opening the following Archived page on my blog –
