Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

      Thank you very much.

On Monday, the Met Office, in collaboration with public health partners, issued its first ever extreme heat warning as western areas are expected to see unusually high and prolonged temperatures until the end of the day on Thursday.

      Great work, Gerry.
Those MWOM’s are nearly complete now up to issue #300

      I’ll do issues #293, #294 & #295 this week (Hopefully! if I don’t drop from heatstroke before then 🙂 )

Wonderful work everyone in getting so many Marvel comics scanned. Takes me back to my childhood.

Not sure if you are aware that there are a number of MWOM featuring the Planet of the Apes issues that are partially scanned? The same with the Planet of the Apes comics where they only contain the apes stories.

I think I may have a couple of fully scanned Planet of the Apes saved on my hard drive. I’m happy to share mine if you do not have the full issued scanned.

        Keep up the great work.

Yeah MWOM 231 – 245 are mostly partial. I’ll try to update the occasional issue soon between other scans. I’m sure Lee wouldn’t be adverse to doing some also. And I’m looking at the POTA issues.

Yes, I just checked, Gaz. Of the MWOM & POTA issues so far scanned, issues
          #231 – #235, #238, #239, #241 – #245 have only the POTA strips.

Thanks everyone. I did try Hunters Planet of the Apes Archives (https://pota.goatley.com/marvel_uk.html); a great resource for all things POTA but their scans of Planet of the Apes and Mighty World of Marvel were just the apes stories only.

I need to go through my Marvel UK collection and start scanning – most have been scanned on your site but I do have a few Conan Monthly UK editions. When I get time in a few weeks time I will try and scan a few.

Further to my earlier message on errors, looked at a couple I fixed. All are .rar files with .cbz conics as part of the download, now just alter everything to .zip and have no problem.

Especially thanks for the complete scan of #231 of Mighty World of Marvel, Gerry.

Hopefully we will one day get all of MWOM scanned as it is arguably the most important comic series in Marvel UK history.

I have to agree with Lee about MWOM.

MWOM #123 was the comic that started my love for superhero comics, introducing me to the Incredible Hulk (although originally an Avengers story), Daredevil (with a cameo from Thor) and Fantastic Four against Dr Doom who had stolen the power cosmic from the Silver Surfer. Still some of my favourite stories.

I never managed to get a full set of MWOM, but was lucky enough to get a full run of Dracula Lives, The Super-Heroes, The Titans, Conan and Captain Britain. Sadly, with the exception of Captain Britain, they were destroyed by water damage when in storage. Thankfully this site allows me to catch up on these great comics.

On my search to find a program that can extract 1st pages from comics (what is most of the time the cover) in a batch i found just the program i need, Comic Utility Belt, it extracts from cbr, cbz and pdf with 1 mouseclick, i just extracted 800 covers in just a minute.
Perhaps it’s useful for others also. It’s powerful, it’s handy, its convenient, and it’s free.
No i don’t have any shares in it at the stock market.
