Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

I am thinking of making another blog, i still have something like 250 golden books, and i am thinking to combine them with old children books that have alot of illustrations in them, i think i have something like 400 of those, and some others like read-along books and see-hear-read books and some coloring books.
I want to look if there is any interest in such blog, please let me know with a comment. It’s not like the blog can be up and running in a few weeks, it’s more something for the beginning of next year.

I am still working to prepare a blog with pulp and other old magazines from before 1970, i hope that this one can be running before the end of this year.

Also i am working on compilations from British comics to update this blog with, i allready am working on alot of them, and i mean alot alot. But i have some catching up to do for them with all the new uploads because i want to be as accurate with this compilations as i can be.

As you can tell, i am always short of a few hours at the end of the day, fortunately i don’t need much sleep to function.

I have two daughters (ages 9 & 7) who would love a childrens book blog. The younger one already enjoys the comics like Teddy Bear on this blog. I think she agrees with her 62 year old father, “growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.”

Thanks for the input. You are so right, i have about 300 old dutch childrens books, not only for collecting them but also for reading, and still searching on fleamarkets. The thing i also really like in them are the illustrations.

5 more Love Story Libraries to add, and a Debbie and Mandy:

You did miss off one batch of Pocket Detective library, which is still there, if you want to add:

And the numbering on the description on your recent Lion updates is a bit out and I think you missed a few out.. Anyway, keep up the good work…

You are welcome and thanks for the links.
The Lion’s are a bit confusing as Leegs mentioned :

Just an update on issue 303 of Lion.

I believe the issue has been miss-numbered (by the publishers) as 303 instead as 308.

The scan for issue 307 is dated 4/1/58 and the scan for issue 309 is dated 18/1/58

So the “real” 303 is missing or not scanned.

When i have time i will look closer into it.

I had the same with the Menomonee Falls Gazette with issues 51,52 where there were 2 issues 52, 1 issue 51 was renumbered 52 for some reason.

Thanks Leegs – I have checked my Victor comic missing list and the Victors available on this site – there are a lot of gaps from issue 710 up to issue 1600, before and after these issues are complete with no gaps. I can provide a list of the missing issues if required in one go, but it would probably cause a lot of work in one hit – so a request in batches may be the way forward. A heart felt thanks to all the scanners and uploaders on this site, otherwise my childhood memories would just be memories. Thank you.

Somehow i made a mess with the issues TV21 and Joe90. Many issues are double, like TV21 50 and TV21 and Joe90 50 are the same, i think i just numbered the issues TV21 and Joe90 further where it says on the cover only TV21. I noticed it when i was working on some compilations and saw the same stories coming back a second time.

It’s all a bit confusing with these TV21’s:
TV Century 21, later renamed TV21 (from issue 155), TV21 and Tornado (from issue 192), TV21 and Joe 90 (from issue 243), TV21 (from issue 278) and TV21 and Valiant (from issue 347).
And then there was the new numbering, the issue numbering of TV21 and Joe 90, was reset to 1, with a new series printed on the cover, whose name reverted to TV21 after 36 issues (the 278th overall).
I think i got lost in this maze of numbers.

Best thing to do is look through the issues this week and see what numbering is best and make a new page for the TV21 issues, split correct into TV21 and TV21 and Joe90.

Thanks, i sorted them out also, i just followed the numbers from 1 until 242 and made addittions to their names like :

and Joe90 New Series (that would be 1-37)
New Series (that would be 37-105)
Just TV21 (that would be 155-191)
and Tornado (that would be 192-242)

        I have a gap between 106-154.

I am going to delete the older page and make a new one for TV21 with this numbering and links, just to avoid more confusion.

          TV21 #001 – 242
          TV21 & Joe 90 #001 – 036
          TV21 New Numbering #037 – 105 (TV21 then merges with Valiant)

          No gaps

          Hope this helps

Thanks once again leegs – well here is the list of missing issues of Victor, and its a big one.

      741 to 760, 762 to 775, 790, 801 to 827, 833 to 836, 841 to 889, 898 to 932, 936 to 938, 940, 950 to 953, 956 to 984, 1001 to 1036, 1051, 1054 to 1058, 1062 to 1088, 1106 to 1140, 1149, 1156, 1158 to 1194, 1207, 1211 to 1245, 1259 to 1297, 1302, 1305, 1315 to 1328, 1330 to 1345, 1347 to 1350, 1367 to 1401, 1420 to 1440, 1442 to 1444, 1451 to 1460, 1467 to 1495, 1497 to 1506, 1514, 1520 to 1558, 1563 to 1566, 1572 to 1600.

That is a big list and a big ask – its means a lot of work for people. It would however leave a complete Victor issue collection on this site – an important archive.

      Hi boutje777

The TV21 page looks better now, unfortunately its not in correct release order.
The TV21 issues from 001 to 154 are missing.

TV21 & Joe 90 started the new numbering after TV21 (old) issue 242.
So it should be listed as:-

      TV21 001 – 191
      TV21 & Tornado 192 – 242
      TV21 & Joe 90 001 – 036
      TV21 (New) Numbering #037 – 105

This caused a bit of confusion for me originally – the publication zeroed when Joe 90 merged with it.

      Hope this helps.

        Thanks.
I think it’s because i only looked at the numbering on the covers and not the date.
So it appears i have the new numbering from 1 until 105 (with Joe90 and just TV21) and from the old numbering 155-242 (just TV21 and with Tornado) and missing 1-154. I hope to get or find these old numbers 1-154 so i can place everything in the correct release order.
