Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

All the individual comic page links seem to be dead?

When you click on one of the comic covers in the left-hand column you’re sent to a blank page?

Hope this can be fixed as I’ve only just found this site & think it’s amazing 😀

That is weird, it is supposed to bring you to the pages with the comics. It’s working fine with me now. Maybe some temporary siteproblems.

        Thanks for your reply…

Not sure why but the links no longer work on my Desktop PC, both on Firefox & Edge however the site works fine on my Kindle Fire?

There must be a fault with my PC, all was fine a week ago, can’t think what’s changed since then, it’s weird?

Thanks for your hard work & fantastic site.

        Mike 😀

Have you tried emptying your cache ? The only thing that changed is that i made new links for the coverpictures because of the new policy of Photobucket, but that was 6 weeks ago, can’t imagine that causes the problem with you pc.

Thanks for your super fast reply 😀

Just cleared my cache with no result…

What I have noticed is that the links in the left column are different on my Kindle browser than the one’s on my PC’s browsers?

            eg. Action comic

The link shown for Action comic in my Kindle browser is “https://britishcomics.wordpress.com/2015/03/24/action/”

However, the link for Action comic in both Firefox & Edge on my PC is “http://wp.me/s5WnH8-action”

When I click on the Action comic link on my PC I’m sent to a blank page, however if I paste the link from my Kindle browser into my PC the page for Action loads with no problems?

I have no idea why the links in Kindle & my PC are different, any ideas?

            Mike

Mike I tried both the links you provided on my computer and they both took me to the same place, namely the page for action. What I did was highlight the link you provided, right clicked on my mouse and then clicked on go to the link. I can tell you that I haven’t been having any trouble with the site save for Adrive acting up the other day so it does sound like a problem related specifically to your computer. Given what has been happening on one of my laptops it sounds possible.

I’ve worked out that the problem is down to me connecting to the site via VPN.

I always connect to the net via the service & never had any problems, maybe WordPress or my service provider have recently made changes which now stop me from connecting?

As soon as I disconnect from the VPN the site loads fine.

I’m really glad the problem’s been resolved 😀

            Thanks for all your help!

            Mike

BTW – Thanks for the comics, especially Action, Starlord & Bullet, so many good memories 😀

    • Doesn’t work downloading to an iPad
      But there is a workaround
There are plenty CBR comic readers for iPad
I use manga storm available in App Store
Download the comics on a PC

unzip them save them to cloud based program I use google drive I can the access them with manga storm on my iPad as you can add google drive as your comic server.

Once setup very simple but you will need a Pc.

There may be another way to do it, but that works for me.

It’s well worth the little bit of extra setup to get access to all the great stuff here.

How are you correcting this problem as I have a batch from a scanner that are really irritating – half pages say no load then whole comic appears – how do I lose the blank pages?

If it is the same problem as with Mr. Tweedy.
Just extract the cbr/cbz files and delete the files that were just a few bites and are invisble to watch, they start with ._ and delete the map with the name macosx, make a new archive and the problem is gone.

Outstanding website and outstanding scanning by Mr Tweedy! If I got this right, every Lion from the start of 1961 right up to the end, with just the following exceptions have now been scanned:
    0534 30-06-1962
    0537 21-07-1962
    0538 28-07-1962
    0540 11-08-1962
    0560 29-12-1962
And then there 0617 01-02-1964 which has missing pages 3,4,25 and 26 and 0549 13.10.1962 which has a cut coupon from the last two pages.
