Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

When open file of Buster 0500 [1969-12-20] it only shows the cover, I check to see inside what is the problem and solved it to get all the pages.

All the pages except the cover had file extension .tif.

    The cover had .jpg

so manually modify file extension to jpg and it fixed the problem.

Now that it is correct, will you like me to upload you this one?

Yes, thanks. It depends on the comicreaders also, some will open tiff and jpg and png others only jpg.

Typical, the best laid plans of mice and men.. Scan tailor only saves the final pages as Tiff’s. I looked at the file sizes and the B&W pics were all under a meg each so I did nothing with them. The cover was something in the region of 89 megs so I converted it to jpg and it dropped to about 4 meg. For curiosities sake I converted one of the B&We but it too weighed in around 4 megs, so I left it alone. I checked the archive on my CBR reader and it opened fine so I assumed it would work for everyone. Since the issue was raised I tried to open it on my tablet with the mobile version of my PC’s reader and it only read the front cover. Still, that was the first comic I have scanned so it could have gone worse!

I had a similar problem with a 1998 Dandy I scanned last night. Every page was colour and had to be converted else the CBR would be over a gig in size! To bring it down to around 30 megs I had to reduce image size to 50% original then save to jpg. If renaming doesn’t work for some people’s readers I will repeat what I did with the Dandy and that should solve the problem.

I think you should upload the amended version and we can all try it and see if anyone has problems.

Thanks for the feedback, this a learning curve!

Stephen, you mentioned that the Busters you are scanning are greater than A4 so you are having to do two scans to make one page. How are you joining the two images? When my 1986 issues turn up I will have the same problem.

boutje777, I just won three of the missing Tigers in auctions on eBay (01/09/1956, 02/02/1957, and 26/04/1958). I hope to have them in the next week or two.

The previous one that will be an upgrade (11/06/1955) was delivered this morning, so hopefully I will have it scanned and ready for you early next week.

This site has renewed my love of older British comics. Back in the 70s and 80s I lived next door to artist Mike Lacey, here’s a link to a drawing he did for me: https://photos.app.goo.gl/awyrmcZ96KCLYgu36

Hello , great work with the updates , i just downloaded the look in annuals you put on the new update and i have a folder on my comp , so i added the new look in annuals to the existing folder i have and was suprised to see the same cover staring back at me twice, one is “dated” look in annual 1974 , the other is look in annual 1975 , i have opened both of them and its the exact same annual the few pages i looked at , it does have a copyrite on one page saying 1974 on it , so i am presuming this is actually the 1975 annual Since its normally the years before when they come out

Thanks you are right, it’s sometimes a little confusing, that’s probably because some people (like me) take the year of copyright as the date and others think like you. I guess you have to choose which has the better quality.
