Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

Commendations on such a great nostalgic website. I was a huge comic reader when I was growing up and had huge collections of 2000ad, Battle Picture Weekly and many Marvel UK titles. Just after leaving school, we moved house and as my comic collection was so big, I opted to only take the Marvel UK titles with me. I left around 500 2000ad and Battle Picture Weekly behind stacked up in the old outside toilet. What a find for the next family that moved in. This decision has haunted me with regret all my life. I think I thought at that time the Marvel UK comics would be worth more. (I was 15 and this was 1982). I did buy all the 2000ads back again in the late 80s but not Battle Picture Weekly. Its great to finally see and read them again without the expense and no storage problems.

I’ve made a new widget for the Magazines which not have the most pages
(at least 50%) for comics. It’s below the Picture Libraries.

I am working at the moment with Old Time Radio Shows, i have 900+ from all different sorts and i am going to make a section for those in the Vintage Vinyl blog. I’ve made a samplepage and like to ask if you want to take a look if everything is working like it should, especially the soundsample and the download for 1 file and for all files at once.

Thanks, did downloading all files at once worked also because that would be best for me, so i can upload all files seperately which will save me the time to make packs of all the files and have to make separate downloadlinks for each pack and that will be a thousand or so i am afraid.

Great idea! Is it possible to show how long each episode lasts? The reason I ask is that recordings some shows like Hancock and The Goon Show often have often been edited for various reasons. If I can see how long each episode is I may be able to provide an unedited version of these shows for you.

Thanks, i am afraid not, i can only see that when i highlight the file on my computer and it would be too much time to ad this information by hand for each file.

Started to listen to the first episodes of Dad’s Army very enjoyable, I spend 11 years in the Royal Hampshire Regiment until thatcher made me redundant, we were far more efficient and professional in dealing with an enemy.

    Frank McDiarmid RIP

I’m so sorry to pass on the news (as published on downthetubes) that Frank McDiarmid has passed away.

Frank was one of the mighty figures in British comics (see his obituary in the link above), and his zenith was undoubtedly Cheeky Weekly. I would go as far as saying that the toothy funster’s title was Frank’s comic, so inextricable was the link between the multitudinous funny folk of Krazy Town and the artist who illustrated their weekly pun-strewn escapades. Frank clearly had a lot of fun illustrating the gag-packed pages and he took full advantage of the freedom he was given, cramming extra jokes of his own into every imaginatively-constructed page. So much so that he became a character in his own comic.

From what I’ve read about Frank it’s clear he was always happy to reply to Cheeky fans who contacted him and would often send them specially-drawn pictures of his striped-jersey-wearing creation.

Those of us reading comics in the late 70s were so fortunate to be able to experience the ground-breaking, hilarious Cheeky Weekly. Thanks for all the fun, Frank.

My condolences to Frank’s family and friends.

Frank McDiarmid (who died January 2021), was a British comics artist best known for his work on Roger the Dodger in the Beano and on IPC humour titles such as Whizzer and Chips, Cheeky Weekly, Krazy Comic, Whoopee!, Wow! and Monster Fun. Strips he drew include Cheeky (for which he created an extensive supporting cast including Lily Pop, Yikky Boo!, Baker’s Boy and Constable Chuckle), Kid Kong, Boy Boss, Frankie Stein and Willie Bunk. He later moved into the field of fine art.

He was 75 or 76 years old.

Thank you for the latest comics.

Just one small point, the Uk2102-who02.rar link download, does not download, when hit download button.

Thanks in advance if you could fix this ?

The latest Whoopee Frankie stein special 1980, means after that you only need one more to complete the frankie stein specials.

With this one, it means you have 1975-1980, 1982.

    Only missing 1981.

Also there are 2 Annuals of Whoopee Frankie Stein, the years are 1976 & 1977, yet to find.

You are welcome, i just tried to download that link and it worked fine for me. Sometimes there are temporary problems and you have to try later again. Sometimes you have to wait 30 seconds or even more after you hit the downloadbutton.
