Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

Regarding DC Thomson, I have made a group in groups.io for discusion of DCT comics. Their Ts and Cs however forbid distribution of copyright material. DCT material is arguably (at least by them), copyright. So, I propose when I have got use to the groups format, those interested in DCT content can join and discuss. I don’t see any problem in referring interested parties towards mediafire, and the like, links. What do other people think?

Dear Boutje, may I take this opportunity to thank you for providing a Magnificent site for ‘British Comics’, and to all who have contributed to the many comics within.
    Again Thank You…..
I was intrigued by downloads from Paw Brown of Coloured Slick Fun, got my Comic Bible out:- ’The Complete catalogue of British Comics’ by the late Denis Gifford,
    With the following information:-
    ‘Slick Fun’ – June 1940 to 1945 numbered 1 to 19
    Then:-
    ‘Coloured Slick Fun’ – 1945 to January 1951 numbered 20 to 88
Note: full colour issues 35 to 67 only. Hope this is of use.
    Also…
D.C. Thompson Comics, I am a little confused about their copy right, I have looked at this and I understand that in UK law it only stands for 25 years!
    Found the following information:-

    https://www.copyrightwitness.com/copyright/p01_uk_copyright_law#:~:text=Fact%20sheet%20P-01%3A%20UK%20Copyright%20Law.%20Issued%3A%20April,and%20the%20work%20to%20which%20it%20applies.%20Introduction.

Sorry for long web address, goes straight to UK copyright Law.
    Note paragraphs – 3 v and 6 iv
I hope this may be of help to all concerned.

Thanks for the link with information. Their is a difference between copyright conceirning publishers and copyright conceirning the owners/artists as far as i was informed, the complete copyright system is somehow confusing with many different angles.

I see many people make that mistake, i don’t know why that is, perhaps some reflex, or Thompson sounds better or more British (Daley Thompson) than Thomson. Thompson is btw an historic Belgian bicycle and motorbike manufacturer.

The link to the new D C Thomson Discussion group is https://groups.io/g/dct/
Here we can discuss all things DCT related, keep a record of what exists in digital format and where people can go to appreciate their contribution to British comics. I look forward to seeing any one interested there 🙂

Regarding the members list in DCT, l couldn’t make member lists available to members as the group settings wouldn’t allow this, however you should be able to see the group directory, this contains a list of members… There must be logic in there somewhere, but I can’t find it!

I just acquired a copy of Action Annual 1985 from eBay. I hope to have that in my possession and scanned within the next few weeks. That will make Action completely complete.

    Hi all

Fantastic archives! Such a treasure trove of almost forgotten memories!

I remember as a kid reading Olac the Gladiator comics… and have found a few online.

Anyone here have any compilations of these that can share?

    Would be most amazing!

      Hi
Thank you so much for the Jinty. I used to read this while waiting for various doctors, etc. and I would also find it at jumble sales, together with Mandy, Bunty, Misty, etc. Being a “boy” i never purchased it from a newsagent – there being such a variety of comics to peruse. However, “Girls” comics contained excellent adventure/dramatic stories in amongst some clunkers, as in common with all other comics. I enjoyed many of the stories – Jonah of the Jinx brought some memories back. I must say i did not remember the amount of text stories in Jinty. Owing to the way i read Jinty, I do not believe I was ever able to read a complete story. Of course this was in common with many other comics of the time such as Lion, Victor, Buster, which copies I would find from time to time. In my later years, I have appreciated being able to read a story from start to finish. My primary comics when younger – and which I steadfastly purchased until “growing out” of them were Action, Battle, Krazy, Whoopee, Shiver & Shake, Bullet, Starlord, 2000AD – I was usually limited to 5 at max; others from time to time included Buster, Whizzer n Chips, Valiant and Commando. Previously, Beano and Dandy figured prominently. I want to say again thank you for this Jinty.
