Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.
A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.
British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.
You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.
There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.
You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.
Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.
I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.
I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.
This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.
If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.
Thanks to the following sites for the information :

*OFF TOPIC*
Although it’s the topic everywere offcourse.
I am curious to know how people respond in other countries with the half- and complete lockdowns.
Here most people follow the rules that are provided by the government, if not, they will be warned and if they continue with that behavior they will get a fine, which is not that fine offcourse. Just an example, some people just party on like they used to, even named them coronoparty sometimes. Just yesterday a group of 40 were warned and later got a fine, because they were partying in a hotel, with everybody in everyones room and in the lounge. Groups of people that are warned and fined because they, as normal, meet in shoppingcenters with 15-20 all together. But i most say that those are the exceptions. When you live irresponsable and you are antisocial your whole life, you don’t change from 1 day to another just for some invisible virus. A few weeks ago there was some problem with people hoarding the shoppingcenters, but that seemed to calm down now.
All the best for everyone.
I try to make an update next week.

Dear Boutje, thank you for the topic. I write from Italy, Emilia, the region near Lombardy where the pandemic epicenter is. Our martir city is Bergamo. Every day much people die. The very bad thing is that all the relatives can not stay with thei beloved ones in the final time. Very, very sad time for the country.
For the social isolation is very difficult. The italian state began with a penal sanction but now is a mere economic sum to pay (when ? who know). Too much people really do not care. Yesterday 40 peoples gathered for a barbecue. Five stupid ones say with arrogance that they need to go out to buy dope…but the majority of the people is really disciplined. I have a dear friend who have many girlfriends and now is forced in house with wife / daughter / mother in law: he is very very sad.
Some days ago italian Carabinieri in Maranello (the city of Ferrari, of course) gave a sanction to 31 people who gathered in the evening in an open place to pray Lord. They are not catholics but Evangelics. I think that they have a right to pray and they was very much distanced. Not near.
What can i say…it is a very bad moment and i hope all the best.
By the way your dragnet of comics site is a wonderful way to pass the time.
All the best to You and the other guys and care of yourself.
Ciao

Hi. Am I being daft, but I can’t seem to find any TV Action comics here (what used to be Countdown comic) from the 70s? That’s a classic series surely.

Thanks for asking. It’s here but somehow the coverlink was deleted and all it left was a cross. It’s visible again now.

Hi boutje, I wrote a large piece yesterday in reply to your “off-topic” feed to how we are coping in England with this virus. I pressed the post comment button it disappeared off-screen and a new WordPress page informed me that it was a duplicate comment which I find strange because my posting was personal to me. This is the second or third time it has done this in the past month. Phil.

Thanks for your efforts Phil. Sometimes WordPress reacts in a peculiar way with postings also. When i make to many posts one after another, the blog get closed due to spamviolations, that happened a few times. That is also 1 of the reasons i make all posts ready in advance, so i’m not loosing a large post because of it. Perhaps the software thought it was spam because the comment was big, just my guess. I always make big comments like updates first in a textprogram like wordpath or so, and copy and paste it in a comment just to be sure, if it goes wrong i don’t loose my work and can paste it again.

Hi all,
I was looking in the more comics listing and found the heading Black Bob, I opened the link and found yet again that the information I sought had been taken down due to DC Thompson’s rant which they do every 8-10 years and to a comic lover it’s a kick in the mouth each time they do it, boy I hate that company for the way they destroyed the British comic industry, but saying that after a little research on another site i found that the annuals don’t seem to have been covered by the copyright law to which I think their bullying of boutje was over the top and they were edging their bets. I would be interested and welcome comments on this feed from other users of this site. Regards Phil

You mean they don’t download at all or you can’t open them after the download ? With downloading sometimes you have to wait for 1 minute or more before the download starts, some sort of hickup, or it’s just slow because many people are downloading the file at the same time. I can read the files with Comicrack or CDisplayEx, although the very large files are better readable with Comicrack.
Thanks, all the best for you also.

You have a great collection here. I’ve been looking at British girls’ comics for a blog post, and I found some scans that aren’t on here.
I have a suggestion also. Consider uploading the less copyright-y comics to the Internet Archive, like the aforementioned girls’ comics. They have a pretty lax policy there when it comes to such things, and it won’t go away any time soon like the file storage services you use. There’s a lot of comic scans on there already.

Thanks, but i had to delete the links because they lead to DC Thomson comics, i had to remove all DC Thomson related material and links from the blog.
As for the Internet Archive, not so long ago all DC Thomson’s Dandy and Beano were removed also on that Archive.

Likewise the Beezer and Topper issues. Luckily I managed to download a lot of them before they were removed, but I ran out of hard drive space before I could do Dandy and Beano and then they were removed.Of course some of the stuff removed from here is still out there if you know how to find it, but I won’t say publicly as I don’t wan’t DCT to find out and remove it from those places too.

Hey Ian. You are very lucky to have the Topper and Beezer. If it’s not too much of a hassle perhaps we can do a trade. You send me the Topper and Beezer Annuals and I will send you my Beano Annuals. I have 49 from 1951 to 1999. What do you think?

Hi Boutje, many thanks again for latest offerings later in Evening.
I have now ‘downloaded’ the ‘Eagle, and ‘Lion’ latest offerings.
I experienced as you said –
‘it’s just slow because many people are downloading the file at the same time’
I would like to thank Again all contributors, Please All Keep ‘SAFE’ care of yourselves…
Special thanks to ‘Lion’ Uploader, great copies with also two undated copies from 1959!
Also could I make an appeal to the ‘Eagle’ uploader (great vol 12 upload) if he has ‘Eagle Vol 4 & 5 as the one’s on site are to my old eyes, ‘out of shape and out of focus’ I remember having these as a child, Many, many thanks to all again.
You are making me Happy in these trying times, Good Luck All!!!
Thank You.

Thanks, you are welcome. Yes these 2 Lion’s are undated but i dated them because it’s makes sense with the numbering before and after those 2 that these must be the dates of publishing.

I’ve reorganized the Jack and Jill page and gave it a place between the coverlinks.
Also i am thinking to make 2 new widgets, like i did for the Picture Libraries.
1 for the so called Girl Comics
Debbie
Girl
Girls’ crystal
June
Marilyn
Misty
Nikki
Pink
Princess
Roxy
Sally
Sandy
School Friend
Tammy
Tracy
And 1 for these that were ment for younger children,
nursery titles are they called i believe
Bimbo
Bobo Bunny
Care Bears
Chicks Own
Disneyland
Harold Hare
Jack and Jill
Once upon a time
Pippin
Playhour
Playland
Robin
Rupert
Teddy Bear
TV Toyland
It’s speculative offcourse because i still like to read comics for younger children and for girls also, but it’s just to make it more organized instead of 1 long list of all sorts of publications.

Since I will be storing both those groups on their own flash drives this would make my downloading easier. So I am not going to complain.

I’ve reorganized the Harold Hare page, i believe this title is complete.
One of these days i will start updating the reorganized pages with all updates from the last months, so these organized pages will be up to date again. Will take some time because there were quite a few updates and i have to fit everything (packs and covers) in the right places and make some new packs.
