Welcome on this blog full of information about British comics and offcourse the comics.

A British comic is a periodical published in the United Kingdom that contains comic strips. It is generally referred to as a comic or a comic magazine, and historically as a comic paper.

British comics are usually comics anthologies which are typically aimed at children, and are published weekly, although some are also published on a fortnightly or monthly schedule. The top three longest-running comics in the world, The Dandy, The Beano, and Comic Cuts, are all British, although in modern times British comics have been largely superseded by American comic books and Japanese manga.

You can access the information and comics through the sidebar.
The comics are mostly in packages from around 100mb, inside these rar-packages you will find the comics in cbr format.dandare

There are no DC Thomson related comics on the site, because i had to remove these.

You can view the comics with any cbr-reader like CDisplay or ComicRack.

Most comics are from the 50’s-80’s with some 90’s.

I only place issues from last century,
so no issues newer than the year 1999.

I did not scan the comics myself only collect them from various sites on the internet, internet archive, Usenet Newsgroups and torrents.
So thanks to all the scanners and uploaders.

This blog is purely ment to preserve the comics and to enjoy them, no financial meanings are involved, if you like the comics buy them as long as they are availabe, because nothing can beat the feeling of reading a real comic.

If you find something wrong (downloads, numbering, information) please let me know so that i can correct the error.

Onfortunately we did not make the 2 lost drives visible yesterday, not even with the software partition find. But still not lost all hope, my “assistant” took the 2 drives home and will connect them to his computer this week to see what happens, if they are accessable he will transfer the data to other drives which i will get from him.
It’s possible also that is has something to do with the OS in that case, he has Windows10 allready i still have Windows7 but will take the step into the world of Windows10 also soon, if my old computer (10 years old or so) can handle that, he has his doubts, in that case i have to buy a new desktop. I am planning another update for this blog also this month.

New versions of some Lion/Valiant comics that were flagged as incomplete:
    Lion 1023a (1972-02-12)
    Valiant 332a (1969-02-10)
Valiant 367a (1969-10-11) …my copy was missing the pink centre pages, so I have inserted the pages from the existing scan.
    Valiant 590a (1974-05-04)

Many thanks for finding these issues of Lion/Valiant. I have been desperately seeking these complete versions for nearly 2 years.

Any luck tracking down complete versions of Lion 0914 [1969-10-11] and Valiant 012 (1962-12-22) which I mentioned in my previous post on 10/11/19.

In addition to these, I am wondering whether you can help with the following two comics as they are also incomplete. These two have been bugging me for ages.

Smash 192 (1969-10-04) is missing page 12 (Master of the Marsh strip).
Hurricane 22 (1964-07-25) was upgraded by Boutje over a year ago but is still missing page 4 (Typhoon Tracy strip)

It’s a pity but the 2 drives are still invisible, also on someone elses computer. Last resort is switching to Windows10 and see what happens. I wanted to do that anyway, i will try that somewhere this month if my configuration is strong enough for this switch. First i want to make a new update on this blog somewhere next week.

      Hi Ben
Boutje was forced to remove Starblazer and all other DC Thompson publications or else face a lawsuit.
With a bit of careful searching you can find them on other sites or as torrents.
      Good luck.
      All the best,
      Shea

I have (from here prior to removal) All Warlord, Bullet, Crunch and Victor. I’m looking for The (new) Hotspur. Many of us here have/are looking for DCT stuff. Boutje cannot put them up due to TCT putting copyright pressures on him. As far as I can see the only way forward for those of us looking for DCT publications is to form a new group for “discussion” of DCT stuff, with posts of their material placed for short periods of time via mediafire and similar. I’m happy to start a “discussion group” with groups.io for those that are interested, the most important thing is that we do this outside this blog to ensure Boutje does not get into trouble.

One of my other main interests is music, in general, all kinds of genres, from classic, jazz, to punk and reggae. I’m working on a blog with vintage recordalbums, from the period 1945-1965, with well known artists but also with many from whom probably not many people have heard. It’s still a work in progress and will take some months yet to finish i think. I will have some more time nowadays in this “better stay at home period”.

May God help us, comic lovers, in these difficult times of Corona virus attack. Comic reading will definitely kill the boredom of staying home for long time away from society. Also will help people living quarantined or in self isolation to pass time without getting into depression.

    • John Kerry says:

Our host will probably answer you himself later but here is the answer. Boutje received a notice from DC Thompson requiring hime to take down a number of titles from the site. The title you are inquiring about are among those titles. There were a few things not on the list so they can still be carried, I would presume, but not much. A pitty as I hadn’t gotten around to the DC Thompson stuff which interested me, with a few exceptions.

Thankfully I had already downloaded Warlord and Bullet and Crunch. Using some crafty methods I was able to get a couple of the minor short lived titles but not many. This time they have been really aggressive, having had their titles removed from archive.org also.
Occasionally I see small quantities of Beano on news groups, but mostly freely available to be bought on Ebay. Work that one out…

Stay safe and well everybody until this virus blows over.
We’re on our second week of lockdown in Ireland and we’ve now been told that from tonight onwards we must not leave our homes unless to shop for food or visit the Doctor.

Hard times ahead for all of us here in Europe (and indeed the World) so keep your chins up, we’ll get through this.

Folks, be careful for the next few weeks – remember the old Irish saying
“It’s as easy to catch a cold in a King’s castle as in a shepherd’s hut”

    See you later, Boutje
