Apparently The Miracle debuted on 9 Feb 1935, but that might just be someone counting back the weeks from an issue, which isn’t always flawless.

It was eventually merged with the similar Oracle, possibly not much later than the 1958 issue we have here, but also possibly during the 1959 changeover from AP to Fleetway. The main audience would have been teenage girls amd young women, hence the stories being a mix of romance and human interest drama, a bit more grounded than those appearing in things like The Girls’ Crystal. These titles were quite profitable as it opened up an area of advertising beyond juvenile titles for things like cosmetics, sanitary products and the like It probably lost the younger readers to the romance comics and older ones to the growing number of true-life magazines aimed at women. The Oracle might well have been the last story paper AP/Fleetway published.

The Miracle Library ran for some time as a standard 5 x 7 “story paper library” running compilations of serials from the weekly. The 1949 issues have adverts for early numbers; IIRC it was around 1949 that paper rationing was relaxed or ended. Later in its life it seems to have morphed into a line of pulp paperbacks that survived until at least 1971.

There is another issue at Comic Book Plus: –

I’ve not really been able to nail down a huge amount of solid data on the actual publication, which seems to have avoided cataloging by the likes of W.O.G. Lofts, and isn’t covered by GCD. Apparently it debuted on 9 Feb 1935, but that might just be someone counting back the weeks from an issue, which isn’t always flawless.

    Good morning!

First of all, thank you for the tremendous site you provide. I cannot tell you how much enjoyment it has brought and, through the US section you had, the memories. Thank you so much for the content and the hard work you put into the site. The hard work shows!

I need your help/suggestions…. In recent weeks when attempting to download a comic to read I receive the following message:

Sorry, you can’t view or download this file at this time. Too many users have viewed or downloaded this file recently. Please try accessing the file again later. If the file you are trying to access is particularly large or is shared with many people, it may take up to 24 hours to be able to view or download the file. If you still can’t access a file after 24 hours, contact your domain administrator.

As mentioned, this has continued now for a number of weeks.

Any suggestions as to how to correct this? Any help and assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Again, thanks for a great site!

    Brad

You are welcome, thanks to the scanners and original uploaders. For your problem you have to find a solution yourself i am afraid. I can’t do nothing to resolve this. It’s too specific and can be caused by so many things. I don’t have any control on Google Drive other than downloading en uploading. There are many suggestions in comments or try finding one on the internet, copy and paste the error in Google for instance.

Avast Secure Browser seems to work best for me. When downloading from Google Drive is blocked on Opera, Firefox, Chrome and the rest, Avast always seems to be free of problems. I’ve still no idea why this should be the case, but I’m not going to question it – that browser just works better for that particular task.
