Hi – thanks for another great update. However, all of the Combat compressed rar files are showing as corrupt (July 14th update only). Many thanks.

That is strange, you mean the rar files are corrupt, or the individual titles ? I compressed them with Winrar version 6.02 and i can read most of the issues with Comicrack and all the issues with CDisplayEx, the issues i can’t read with Comicrack are jpeg files the others are jpg, perhaps that causes it.

I’m having a similar problem. I get the message ‘The structure of the archive is damaged’ with Knockout, Vulcan, Tell Me Why and more.

Each time I get the same 2 messages – ‘Unsupported Archive Format’ and ‘The archive is either in unknown format or damaged’. Never had this problem with your files before as you are always the most reliable uploader

I can’t figure out what’s wrong, i tried the archives mentioned and they unpack without problems. The only thing i can think of is that something went wrong with downloading, i believe many people are downloading at the same time, most files are allready downloaded 50+ times.

Hi, Thanks for all these old comics on your site. I’ve had problems downloading the KNOCKOUT and THRILLER PICTURE LIBRARY on your recent page from 2021-07-14. I’ve tried often at different times of the day with no luck. Any chance of re-posting?

Downloaded older issues of Action Picture Library with no problem but the one in the latest update isn’t working. Keeps telling me there is an error. Tried Chiller Pocket Books as well and the same thing. Will try later. Checked and there is enough space for these items. Will try again later.

I can’t find out the reason, everything is working fine with me, perhaps try to download later, there are many people downloading at the same time, perhaps something goes wrong with downloading.

Thanks for the specification, i see that this issue has much too little pages i can open it but it has only 24 pages, that must be causing the error, i will make a note of it at the download.

I think i know what causes that, the files are TIF while most others always are JPG or JPEG, i can read it with Comicrack and CDisplayEx.

My problem isn’t with the comics themselves at least not that I know of.. I can’t get the zip file to open so I can’t even check out the comics.

I am getting Winrar extraction failures for most of the files that I have attempted to download off this update. For a couple of those multi-issue files that have extracted successfully, there appear to be only one issue in the file e.g. Super-Spiderman (should be 3 issues) and Rampage (should be 2 issues). Also, is jpg the preferred file format now? These used to be cbr files.

I don’t know what is wrong, i do just the same as always, only the winrar is a new version. Perhaps something went wrong with downloading. JPG is it most of the time but not preferred, it’s just how the scanner makes them, sometimes png or tif also, or pdf.

For anyone here having a problem extracting these files, I have upgraded my version of WinRar to version 6.02 32bit and this seems to fix that problem.

Did a search on the Microsoft App store and got four results for Winrar. One was for Winrare+ which seems to be a newer version of an older app. Any suggestions of what I should be looking for.

Current situation. I have started using Wineas and I am having almost no problems. I have tried to download some stuff using it from the update and have been successful; save for that Action Picture Library#30. It won’t work.

Well unfortunately it will not open the comics but will open the others so it can’t be my software

It can be, because there are many scanners that use different settings with scanning, sometimes the scans are jpg, jpeg, even tiff or bmp, not to mention the resolutions, so it’s possible that you can read 1 comic and not another with the same software. I sometimes can read comics with CdisplayEx and others only with ComicRack. All comics on my blog can always be read with CDisplayEx or ComicRack because i use these for checking the covers.

It’s exactly the same on the big whizzer and chips update on 2021-08-03 as well. All whizzer and chips comics nothing else. I’m not normally one of the people that say much about download issues on here because I rarely have issues. I extract files from express zip file compression and open the comic up with comicrack and 8 times out of 10 that works but for some reason none of these whizzer and chips will open.

Good that the problem is solved, not really strange, most readers are made by people at home and some can not read everything, there can be so many settings that not works with all comics, also sometimes the extension is changed from cbr to cbz or the other way around, that can cause problems also, or from pdf to cbr. You don’t want to know how many files i find that aren’t compatible with CDisplayEx and ComicRack and i have to search for a solution before i can place it on the blog.

Ah right I’ve just found out that the comics I have in the comicat are cbz and these that don’t transfer are cbr.

Most of the time it’s a process of trying and trying, sometimes it’s cbz sometimes cbr, sometimes the only thing i can do is unarchive the file and make a new archive, i always make them rar, that’s cbr to read. That is another thing sometimes forgotten, when you make a rar it has to be cbr to read, when it’s zip it has to be cbz to read, otherwise most comicreaders won’t open them. So you see it’s not a matter of having a comic and read it right away sometimes, it’s 95% of the time ok but that 5% can give you headaches.
