My Little Pony (MLP) is a toy line and media franchise mainly targeting girls, developed by American toy company Hasbro. The first toys were developed by Bonnie Zacherle, Charles Muenchinger, and Steve D’Aguanno, and were produced in 1981. The ponies feature colorful bodies, manes and a unique symbol on one or both sides of their flanks. Such symbols are referred to in the two most recent incarnations as “cutie marks”. My Little Pony has been revamped several times with new and more modern looks to continue its appeal to the market.
My Little Pony was a series of children’s comics that ran from 1985-1991 in the United Kingdom. There were 224 issues. Each one included comics and stories about various My Little Ponies, and some also included extras such as games, stickers, posters, special offers, pony editorials.

Actually there is a significant male fan following for My Little Pony. They refer to themselves as the Bronies, Brothers of the Ponies. Mind you there interest is in the movies rather than than the toys. Worked in a toy store for a couple of Christmas which is how I learned of them.
