Ranger was a British comic book magazine, with occasional printed stories, published by Fleetway Publications for 40 un-numbered issues between 18 September 1965 and 18 June 1966. The title was then incorporated into Look and Learn from issue 232, dated 25 June 1966.
The title was created by Leonard Matthews but edited by John Sanders, with Ken Roscoe as assistant editor and Colin Parker as art editor.
The content was a mixture of factual articles, photo features and comic strips designed to appeal to boys.
Nowadays it is best remembered as the birthplace of the science fiction strip The Rise and Fall of the Trigan Empire originally drawn by Don Lawrence which ran continuously from issue 1 of Ranger until the final issue of Look and Learn in 1982.

Hi – looks like issue 11, 23 and 32 of RANGER are missing from the collection. I have loaded all 3 pdfs that I scanned myself to drop box but as I have not used it for a while not quite sure how I get them to you. Do I need your email address ?. I did try mediafire but didn’t seem to get very far. I hope we can sort it so that the missing files are there for everyone to access.
Please advise when you have a minute.
Regards
Rob

My email can’t hold to many mb’s. I guess you have to try to copy the link to the individual file, the link in the comments points to a map that doesn’t exist.

Hi Rob, can you find a way to upload this one please? Thanks.

Just the 1966-02-19 issue missing? Or, do you have it somewhere? 🙂

Yes, i have that issue, it was in one of the 2 last updates, i still have to add these updates into the original pages, i usually wait for 2 or 3 updates before i add all new ones into the pages.

Ah, didn’t think to look there. Found it, but reports archive damaged? Won’t open or extract for me. 😦

I had no problems reading it with CDisplayEx and Comicrack, it’s pretty large and took awhile to load, perhaps the problem is that the files are png and somehow i get the idea that it was a pdf file and someone changed the extension, perhaps changing the extension back to cbr or cbz helps.

Ah, you are correct. Changed the suffix to .pdf, extracted to .jpg’s, renumbered & cropped, uploaded… https://mega.nz/file/nfhCDJhC#luAa5HUtbUdyRtbTMNieVJ7K-sbp_fp6TPaxuwioQo8

Thank you, i will think about placing this one at the downloadpage instead of the original because i don’t know who scanned this and i don’t like to upset the original scanner and uploader, although someone allready adjusted it by changing pdf into cbr.

Fair enough. If you look at the original there was a lot of white to crop below each page though. Anyway, enough for today. Didn’t expect to be working on a Sunday morning. Haha

For some reason, when I try to read the 1968 annual through two readers, every second page is upside down but when I extract the contents, they are the right way up. How are the readers getting confused?

Hi Boutje. Ranger – 1966-02-19 seems to have a problem, when i try to unpack it with winrar, it says, no archive content, is it me or is there a problem with it. This is a fantastic site, my boys love reading the old yesteryear comics, so much better than the modern stuff they print today. Thanks Rachel.
