Cheeky Weekly was a British comic published every Monday by IPC Magazines Ltd. It ran for 117 issues from (issues dates) 22 October 1977 to 2 February 1980, failing to be published for 3 weeks in December 1978 due to an industrial dispute. It merged with stable-mate Whoopee!, initially as a 16-page pull-out section. The title character originated in an earlier comic called Krazy as a character in the strip The Krazy Gang and also the star of the ‘Ello, It’s Cheeky feature, and proved popular enough to get his own comic, which managed to outlive Krazy itself. The first issue came with a free “Red Jet Rattler” (a build-it-yourself model aeroplane).

Strips included…

“Calculator Kid”
“Fangs of Fear”
“Paddywack”
“The Skateboard Squad!”
“Tub”
“Walter Wurx”

Yikky-Boo let out his Blood-curdling Cry and got 10 Lane STRIKES at one go in ten pin bowling.

Gunga Jim argued by saying : ”Curry Curry Hot Stuff, they are not STRIKES, as you shattered the Pins, SPLIT them to pieces, so they are all SPLITS!”

Walter Wurx was introduced to our chinese friend Bli Bli Bli bli Bloop, when he heard his name BLI BLI BLI BLOOP, it reminded him to go to the little room.

Other new Characters are as follows :

    1] Akele Hum

    2] Bud Bud Ding Ding

    3] Woo Woo Choonga Choonga

    ———————————————————————————-

Akele Hum is famous for singing, he keeps HUM ”Akele”.

Bud Bud Ding Ding keeps saying ”Bud Bud” while he rings the bell Ding Ding.

As for Woo Woo Choonga Choonga, it sounds like a train to me, the ”Woo Woo” being the Siren sound after pulling a Cord on a Locomotive. The Choonga Choonga sounds like the wheels turning of the Locomotive Train.

Kid Kong from Buster comic is joining the new Cheeky Weekly, with his father King Kong and his mother Kim Kong.

The new improved ”Cheeky and Krazy weekly” coming soon !

”Hit Kid” from Krazy and ”Hid Kid” from Cheeky are related. They are both Cousins.

”Hit Kid” was hired to do contracts to Hit on bullies of local kids.

”Hid Kid” had many reasons to hide his face from the world [one reason, so Yikky-Boo cannot sneak up behind and frighten him].

In addition to Hid Kid never let anyone know where he was :

1] As his Cousin ”HIT KID” also never shown his face, Bullies who had a HIT on them, went out for revenge to find him, assuming that HIT KID never showed his face, they thought it was ”HID KID”. So ”HID KID” went into hiding not to be harmed.

2] ”HID KID” was also scared of LIBBY, that she might wallop him with her Protest Board, another reason to hide.

3] ”HID KID” was also scared of LOUISE, that she might accidently Kiss him too, if she knew what he looked like. [He also was another Cousin of Cheeky and looked like him].

Another new Character is ”Woonga Baga Lulu”.

    He is from Africa.

He keeps chanting : ”Woonga Baga Lulu” and everyone keeps running away from him, thinking he is trying to cast a spell on them.

Reason they think this, is because it reminds them of ”Disaster Des” and his saying : ”Doodle Dum Doodle Dee” and it brought nothing but Disaster.

Could they perhaps related in some way ?

The answer is No ! However there is a logical explanation to the chant ”Woonga Baga Lulu” and everyone is scared for no reason.

The Monkey that keeps chasing Louise everywhere is named ”Monkey MONK KEY”,
and he has a bald patch on top of his head, which makes him look like a Monk and he runs around holding a Key, to try to unlock Louise Heart for him.

It was Love at first sight for him, and he is absolutely Banana’s for Louise.

Cheeky is happy, finally he has her not bothering him anymore, as she is running away from the Monkey all the time.

Cheeky says : ”Ooo Hay the Noo ! Serve’s her right!”
